Over the course of my career, I’ve had a few experiences working for people as their personal assistant and absolutely none of them compared to working for Ben. People in Ben’s role(s) tend to have larger egos where they have high demands and expectations but take no ownership in leading and mentoring the people under them. That is exactly the opposite of how Ben operates. You get a good feeling from the first moment you meet Ben. He genuinely listens and doesn’t just see you as a means to an end. You can tell he cares about the people that work for him and he invests his time and energy into seeing them succeed. He is patient and compassionate not just with your work duties and expectations but in your personal life and the needs you may have outside of your job. It makes you want to work harder for him and it lays a foundation of trust and respect that all employees strive for with their leaders. While Ben has pushed me beyond what I thought I was capable of numerous times in my role with him… I would be remiss to say that I'm not entirely grateful for that because it has helped shape me and build my confidence in ways that no other manager of mine has done in the past. He teaches me whenever he has the opportunity. He makes me better at my job and overall, a better person because of it. He sees the potential in his people and finds the best ways to bring it out of them even if they are reluctant to see it themselves. Not only is he an inspirational leader in the professional environment but anyone can see that he is someone to look up to in the way that he loves his family and friends. Even with the limited capacity Ben has juggling everything in his life, he puts genuine effort and thought into maintaining the relationships that mean the most to him. And after working for him these past two years I can truly say that if I needed anything in my personal or professional life that Ben would do whatever he could to help me and my family. That feeling is enough to not want to let go of because of everything I’ve said above, he has helped me grow and move up and on to more career building opportunities. As a result, I now play a larger role within one of his businesses creating the need for this personal assistant. With all of that said, you can consider yourself one of the lucky ones if Ben chooses to take you under his wing, because I promise from experience, he will let you fly.
