MARIN COUNTY, CA — Marin County Fair staff are "Over the Moon" after the 2019 Marin County Fair won 42 awards at the recent Western Fairs Association annual conference in Reno, Nevada. Last year's fair celebrated the 50th anniversary of the first moon landing with the theme Over the Moon. The Western Fairs Association, a 150-member trade association representing fairs in the western United States and Canada, recognizes excellence in the fair industry at its convention and provides a forum for fairs to share ideas and programs. "I am literally over the moon with pride for our team who makes the Marin County Fair such an award-winning success," said Gabriella C. Calicchio, the county's director of cultural services. "From innovative marketing campaigns to engaging agricultural and competitive exhibits programming, our fair is truly a community event that we cherish each summer. We thank WFA for recognizing our hard work and forward-thinking strategies we put forth for our fair every year." The 2019 Marin County Fair received 21 first place awards, 14 second place awards and seven third place awards. (See the full list below.) The 79th annual Marin County Fair, with the theme "The Soaring 2020s," will be held July 1-5, 2020.
