Description

Salvage and improve your watercolor paintings using mixed media, collage and more. We all have them -- that stack of watercolor paintings that you haven’t ripped up, because there is actually something nice about each one, but they are still deemed disasters. Clean out your stack, save and improve what you can by any means possible, mixed media, collage, adding gesso -- there are a million ways to salvage and improve a painting that has at least one good part. We will start the day talking about various salvage and collage techniques, then as a group analyze the pieces you have brought. Next we will cut the old paintings apart, then reconstruct, repaint and recycle to create new a innovative work. $99 workshop fee does not include materials. Please bring a sheet of 300 lb watercolor paper or an illustration board to use as your collage base. Regular 140lb or 90lb paper will not be sturdy enough. Most people end up doing full sheet collages. Bring your usual watercolor paints, watercolor pencils, pastels, or anything else you think you may use. Bring good scissors and an X-acto knife, and a cutting board if you have one. Acrylic Gel medium, Elmer's White Glue All, or Yes paste are all good to adhere the papers to the board. Instructor will bring a cutting board and some heavy Strathmore boards that can be used as support. Boards are $12.00 a piece for a 20” x 30” sheet, check or cash only. We will have an hour break for lunch between Noon-1pm. Bring your own lunch or check out one of the local restaurants in the area.
