About the bookA delightful, interactive read, What Makes You Smile as Big as the Moon? explores thoughts and emotions for young children and their families, friends and teachers. Beautiful, watercolor illustrations portraying a diversity of real children paired with playful verse allow children to find themselves on the pages and invite conversations that help readers grow in awareness and understanding of their feelings. Finding the stuffed bunny on each page adds fun while underscoring the connectedness we all share. This book will be a treasured addition to a family’s library and is perfect for elementary classrooms. Profits from the sales of the book support children’s literacy through donations to Raise a Reader - a program of the Whatcom County Library System which provides books to local families of newborn babies and nationally to The National Children’s Book and Literacy Alliance. About the authorMargie Kimberley enjoyed a career of 34 years teaching drama, speech, English, Social Studies, Leadership and dance to kids in Oregon, Japan and Bellingham, WA. She now splits her time between Bellingham and Lummi Island where she enjoys time with family and friends. Award-winning artist, Michelle Marques, who happens to be Margie’s niece, lives in Sonoma County, CA and provided the stunning illustrations. They loved collaborating on this book.
