Seven pastors from Greene County, Virginia will offer a 5 minute sermon on each of Jesus' seven last phrases before his death
On Good Friday, the day we remember Jesus' death, pastors from Greene County will reflect on his last seven phrases.
Matthew 27:46: “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?”– Stephen Mathis, Chaplian and Managing Director at Greene Chapel Hill & Wood Funeral Services
Luke 23:34: “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing.”-Walter Canter, Pastor at Blue Ridge Prebyterian Church
Luke 23:43: “I tell you the truth, today you will be with me in paradise.” – Greg Payne, Pastor at Nortonsville Church of God
John 19:26–27: “Dear Woman, here is your son! and Here is your mother!” –Gayle Johnson, Pastor at Westover United Methodist Church
John 19:28: “I thirst.” – Devon Maust Earle, Pastor at Stanardsville United Methodist Church
John 19:30: “It is finished.” – Johnny Hawkins , Pastor Cedar Grove Church of the Brethren
Luke 23:46: “Father, into your hands I commend my spirit.” –Anne West, Vicar at Grace Episcopal Church
The service will also include the estinguishing of candles as we get closer to Jesus' death and reflective music.
