Young writers age 8-11 are invited to an evening writing workshop at CWS. This Friday Night Writers is inspired by the work of Bill Traylor. Friday Night Writers, this time inspired by the art of Bill Traylor. Regarded as one of the most important American artists of the twentieth century, Bill Traylor was born into slavery in Alabama and was among those who laid the foundation of the Civil Rights Movement. His compelling imagery charts the crossroads of radically different worlds—rural and urban, black and white, old and new. Writers will hear Traylor's biography and select a piece of his art as inspiration for writing poetry or prose. Workshop students will eat vegetarian red rice and enjoy iced hibiscus tea. Please bring a water bottle. Friday, April 15, 2022, 5:30 - 8:30 p.m. with a sharing for the grown-ups in the writer’s life at 8:15 p.m. All writing, drawing, and other creative supplies will be provided.
