The 2022 Area 18 Spring Games (Track and Field) is almost here and we need YOU to help make this competition the BEST EVER! Thank you for volunteering for the Special Olympics Texas Area 18 Spring Games! As our largest competition of the year, we need over 200 volunteers to make this event run as successfully and as smoothly as possible for our athletes to have a fun-filled and competitive experience! Please see the available volunteer assignments below. When registering, please pay close attention to the shift times available as some assignments have multiple shift options. Volunteer Assignments: Assignments are available for morning and/or afternoon shifts. Afternoon shifts include helping with breakdown. Track Shifts - Volunteers will be needed on the track to help facilitate the running events via the following types of shifts: Check-In, Track Staging, Timers, Pickers, Results Runners, Result Escorts, Athletic Water, and as High Fivers.Field Events - Volunteers will assist in running each of the following field events: Standing Long Jump, Running Long Jump, Shot Put, Softball, Javelin, and Tennis Ball Throw.Equipment/Facility - Volunteers will assist in making sure all competition and event areas have the equipment and items needed to facilitate their area as well as restock water coolers and move equipment as needed.Awards Shifts - Volunteers will assist in celebrating and awarding awards to athletes as they're earned throughout the event day, on either field or track events.Lunch Shifts - Volunteers will help with the set-up and tear-down of the lunch service area as well as assist in serving food to our athletes, coaches and all day volunteers. Volunteer Check-In - Assist with checking in volunteers and guiding them to their correct shift areas for training.Training: All volunteers will be trained prior to starting your shift and will be instructed on where to report upon arrival.  Attire: Please dress for comfort and mobility. Wear comfortable shoes - you will be on your feet most of the time. Closed-toe shoes are required to volunteer; no sandals. Face masks are required at all times. Parking: General parking is available at the venue. To Register as a Volunteer: Click on the Green Register link. You will see multiple shift options. Each "ticket" represents a volunteer slot for that shift. Volunteers must be at least fifteen (15) years old to volunteer without an adult present.
