WAYLAND, MA — Here's what's happening at the Wayland Free Library the week of March 28. ADULT SERVICES Flooding of the Sudbury River Join us for an informative panel discussion about the Sudbury River and the episodic flooding bythis slow-flowing yet powerful river. Panelists are Alison Field-Juma of OARS, a non-profit tobenefit our local rivers; Brian Donahue, Associate Professor of American Environmental Studiesat Brandeis U.; and Tom Sciacca, longtime and passionate advocate for the wetlands andwaterways of Wayland. Monday, April 4 at 7 p.m. Great Presenters: Medical Simulation—The Present and Future of Medical Education Over the last 20 years, medical simulation has become a standard component of medical training.Using a wide array of resources, including technologically-advanced robots, medicalprofessionals can now learn and practice without risks to themselves or their patients. Explorethis exciting and innovative field with Wayland native Dr. Andrew Eyre, emergency physician atBrigham and Women's Hospital and Medical Director for the hospital's STRATUS Center forMedical Simulation. Register through our Events menu. Tuesday, April 5 at 7:30 p.m. Write Letters and Swap Stationery April is National Card & Letter Writing Month. Stop by the Raytheon Room for some good old-fashioned letter-writing time. Bring your unused stationery to swap, use the blank cards we'llprovide, or make your own using our supplies. One postage stamp provided to the first 20attendees. No registration required. Bring your stationery donations to the event or drop themoff at the Reference Desk between Saturday 4/9-Thursday 4/14. Leftover stationery will bedonated, recycled, or repurposed for Library programs. Thursday, April 14, 3-5 p.m. New Round of ESOL Discussion Groups There are two groups, each meeting twice a month April-June, one on Tuesdays 1-2 p.m., theother on Fridays 9-10 a.m. They are best for intermediate or advanced speakers and are limitedto 10 per group. Students will read a short story or article in class, then talk about it. It's a greatway to improve your English and maybe make some new friends. Contact [email protected] sign up.
