PORTSMOUTH, RI — The Portsmouth Free Public Library is back open to the public. On Monday, the library re-opened for limited browsing, with restrictions in place to keep visitors and staff safe during the coronavirus pandemic.
Grab-and-go options are available, as well as some browsing. The new, limited hours are Monday, Wednesday and Friday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Tuesday and Thursday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. The library will be closed on weekends.
All visitors will be required to wear a mask and maintain at least 6 feet of distance between themselves and others, as well as wash hands or use sanitizer after touching library materials. Anyone who is sick, or has an ill member of their household, is asked not to visit the library.
Computer usage will be limited to half an hour, and quiet study rooms, newspapers, tables and chairs will be off-limits.
Book donations will not be accepted at this time, and just one person will be allowed in the book nook at a time.
