CLARKSTOWN, NY — Don't miss Clarkstown South High School's performance of "Footloose" this weekend. There are three performances April 1-3. CSHS Centerstage brings you the musical version of the story of Ren McCormack, a teenage boy from Chicago who moves with his mom to a small farming community. Ren finds himself at odds with most of the town, whose leaders banned dancing after a horrific car crash and where a powerful local minster preaches angrily about the evils of rock 'n roll. Ren makes friends and meets bullies, runs afoul of school and civic leaders, dances defiantly and finally convinces the minister to let the teenagers hold a dance, and in the process helps the town to heal from a tragedy that affected them all. With many familiar songs from the 1980s, "Footloose" celebrates the wisdom of listening to young people while guiding them with an open mind and a loving heart.
