Description

NANUET, NY — Between Oct. 16 and Jan. 1, the Clarkstown Police Department responded to four separate commercial burglaries in the Nanuet area. During each, the burglar forced entry to gain access to the buildings. During the course of their investigation, Clarkstown Police detectives were able to identify a suspect. On March 21, working with the Spring Valley Police Department, the Clarkstown Police Department Detective Bureau arrested him without incident. Robert R. McDonald, 64, of Nanuet faces charges of: 4 counts of burglary 3rd (felony), 1 count of criminal mischief 2 (felony), 2 counts of criminal mischief (misdemeanor), 3 counts of petit larceny (misdemeanor). McDonald was arraigned March 22 in the Village of Spring Valley Justice Court and sent to the Rockland County jail pending a future court date. The quick apprehension of this individual was made possible due to the interagency cooperation of the Spring Valley, Ramapo and Haverstraw police departments, said Clarkstown Police Detective Norman Peters. In addition to the charges McDonald faces in Clarkstown, he has also been charged in connection to three burglaries by the Spring Valley police and one by the Ramapo police. Charges are pending with the Town of Haverstraw Police Department. It should be noted that a criminal complaint is merely an accusation and that a defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
