Description

WATERFORD, CT — Police are warning the public about a group of thieves stealing catalytic converters from cars. Police said that over the weekend they received several calls reporting that the group showed up at 2 p.m. Saturday in the Lowe's parking lot and attempted to steal catalytic converters. Police said the suspect car, shown in a photo in a Facebook post, has license plates stolen from another car. "We also think the same group hit other parts of the state, in the same car, but had a different stolen plate on the car at the time," police wrote. "What they are doing is quick….takes just a couple of minutes. Please don't challenge them yourself, as soon as you see it call the police and let our officers handle it please." Catalytic converters are considered valuable due to the precious metals used to make them and are a common target for thieves. See related: Woodbridge Police Issue Catalytic Converter Theft Warning
