Description

GREAT NECK, NY — A man accused of harassing a Great Neck homeowner and refusing to leave her property was arrested Friday after fleeing from authorities, Nassau County police said. The incident first unfolded outside a Forest Row home around 9:13 a.m. Police said 27-year-old Eliyahu Mahgerefteh, of Queens, refused to leave the property after multiple requests from the homeowner. Officers responded to the scene, but Mahgerefteh had already fled on foot. Eventually, officers found Mahgerefteh walking on Middle Neck Road. And when they tried to arrest him, Mahgerefteh tried to flee from police, according to authorities. As officers were placing Mahgerefteh under arrest, police said he physically resisted — causing one officer to injure her left hand. She was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. Mahgerefteh has been charged with assault, resisting arrest, obstructing governmental administration, stalking, harassment, and trespassing. It is not immediately known how Mahgerefteh knows the homeowner, if at all.
