Description

Press release from the City of New Orleans: March 23, 2022 NEW ORLEANS — The City of New Orleans announced today the extension of fee waivers for existing permit holders of the Parklet Pilot Program. Fee waivers will be available for existing permit holders up until 30 days from the effective date of the permanent parklet program, which is expected by the end of the second quarter of 2022. The City began the Parklet Pilot Program in the fall of 2020 to allow restaurants and bars to utilize on-street parking spaces in front of the business to expand outdoor seating options. Currently, 40 businesses operate a parklet space. This extension does not include new applicants to the program or fee waivers for COVID-19 temporary sidewalk café use permits, which will end March 31, 2022. The development of a permanent parklet program, which requires a re-permitting process, will be presented to the City Planning Commission and the New Orleans City Council in April to begin the approval process.
