Here are the three top stories today in Albuquerque: If you love running, pizza, and making a difference, you'll want to sign up for the second annual Pizza Run, sponsored by Make-A-Wish New Mexico and WisePies Pizza. 100% of event proceeds will benefit Make-A-Wish New Mexico, which helps grant wishes for children with critical illnesses. The run kicks off at 8:00 a.m. on May 15 at the Aperture Center at Mesa del Sol. All participants will receive a hot pizza and t-shirt or tank top; click here for more information on the Pizza Run. (KRQE News 13)A University of New Mexico student will compete in the newest season of American Ninja Warrior. Cassie Dierks, who previously competed in 2020 and 2021, is returning this year for a chance at the cash grand prize. The American Ninja Warrior course features a series of obstacles, including the now-infamous warp wall, to test participants' physical (and mental) fortitude. Said Dierks on this year's run, "I'm not worrying about it as much ... I'm just going to train my hardest and just have fun." (UNM Daily Lobo)The Albuquerque Police Department (APD) has been working with the attorney general's office to catch several serial shoplifters in the area. Over the course of a weeklong operation, officers caught 17 repeat felony offenders, including an individual with $1,100 worth of merchandise. Over the weekend, APD Chief Harold Medina sent a tweet of appreciation to all who participated in the operation.
