Norwalk Man Graduates From CT State Police Academy

NORWALK, CT — A Norwalk man has graduated from the Connecticut State Police academy, making him one of the state's newest police troopers. Paul Cordova of Norwalk is one of 53 newly-minted state troopers who graduated from the academy last week. He is assigned to Troop G, which is based in Bridgeport and covers most of Fairfield County, as well as the I-95 corridor from Greenwich to Branford. Cordova and the other graduates were honored at a ceremony on Thursday, which Gov. Ned Lamont and Lt. Gov. Susan Bysiewicz attended. The class completed 1,400 hours of in-person and online training over 28 weeks. Their time in the academy began virtually on Sept. 10, 2021, and they began the residential portion on Oct. 10. "In addition to classwork, the recruits spend many hours on physical conditioning, driving, firearms training, active shooter response, experiential training and other specialized areas of police work," officials said in a news release announcing the graduates.
