Press release from the City of Hammond: March 22, 2022 Department: Hammond Housing Authority Job Title: Public Housing Family Self-Sufficiency Coordinator Date Requested: March 21, 2022 Date Needed: ASAP Salary: $37,885.13 per year/full-time Position Requirements: Education: High School Diploma or GED, minimum two (2) years applicable Public Housing experience or related field; Bachelor degree in Social Services or related field preferred; Must have excellent math aptitude for rent calculations, escrow and interest calculations Must have excellent organizational skills Must have the ability to work both independently and in a team environment Must have excellent judgment skills and ability to problem solve; Ability to establish & maintain harmonious relationships with other employees and the public and deal with participants in a fair and effective manner; Ability to obtain FSS Certification within six (6) months of employment; Must hold valid Driver's License; Must have excellent computer skills including Excel Duties and Responsibilities: Responsible for all requirement of implementing a successful Family Self-Sufficiency program Responsible to refer families to local resources that assist in families achieving self sufficiency Counsels families for opportunities in education, job training, or other social service assistance as needed; Must meet with participants on a bi-monthly basis or more if needed May conduct home visits or at a pre-arranged meeting place to accommodate participants Implement a case management system to identify needs, planning and delivery of services to the FSS family that will achieve self sufficiency Must identify needs of FSS families, and deliver services and activities necessary in cooperation with FSS Program Coordinating Committee and local service providers; Maintains a productive working relationship with service providers. Must conduct field visits and ongoing outreach to agencies in the community to provide new services and/or opportunities for FSS participants; Responsible for FSS Program presentations at briefings, recertification and interim re-examinations Responsible for implementation of the FSS contracts, interim and final goals, employment requirements and non-compliance of contracts Maintains accurate and current files on each FSS participant. Files will include, but are not limited to individual services and training plans, monthly status reports, bi-monthly interviews, records of all case manager/service provider/client contacts, escrow and interest reports Responsible to review with HVC Director, on monthly basis, FSS Escrow Accounts (disbursements and completions) for each family, forward documentation to Finance Department; Responsible for accuracy of escrow and interest accounts Responsible for all FSS Program reporting requirements monthly, quarterly, and annually; Must have interpersonal skills to develop relationships with service providers and/or service agencies Responsible to identify any barriers that may hinder family from achieving self-sufficiency, Coordinator will counsel and refer to appropriate agencies; Responsible to maintain record of service providers and delivery of services to FSS participants Determine through internal monitoring & reporting: number of families obtaining employment not previously employed, number of families obtaining better paying jobs, number of families obtaining General Equivalency Diplomas, or post-secondary education degrees, number of families increasing income level to exceed need for housing subsidies, number of families becoming homeowners; Responsible for the implementation of quarterly Program Coordinating Committee (PCC) meetings, this includes development an agenda distributed prior to meeting date. Any distribution of pertinent information during the meeting and maintain meeting minutes; Develop brochures, notices, and other related literature for FSS Program; Provide any requested information to Executive Director within timely manner; Complete annual and interim recertifications for FSS participants and as needed for the HCV Department; Assist in other duties as determined by HCV Director or Executive Director Hiring will be done in accordance with Hammond City Ordinance #8620 as it pertains to the residency requirement. Position will be posted internally from March 21, 2022 thru March 25, 2022. If the position is not filled internally it will be held open for external applications an additional ten (10) days.
