Press release from the City of Hammond: March 22, 2022 Department: Hammond Marina Job Title: Clerk/Bookkeeper Date Requested: March 21, 2022 Date Needed: ASAP Salary: $45,000.00/annually Job Requirements: College degree or equivalent four (4+) years in office experience Accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll experience Knowledge of standard office policy, equipment and procedures Computer literacy required of Microsoft Office products, specifically, Excel and POS. Will be trained on Harbor Management Software Systems and AS 400 Ability to relate with Marina customers and the general public in a professional manner Must be available to work weekends, some evenings and summer holidays Job Duties: Process purchase orders and claims for payment to Port Authority vendors. Codes invoices to proper funds and accounts for budgetary purposes. Makes sure that all documentation needed for vendors, purchase orders and claims is obtained before items are to be paid out. Submit list of accounts payable to Port Authority Director for Port Authority Board of Directors review. After Board approval, print, process and distribute payments to vendors Maintain, update and organize vendor information. Provide needed tax forms to vendors and fill out credit applications Organize and distributes all pertinent boater information to customers, including brochures, rates schedules, statements of account, applications for mooring, winter storage contracts, and other related materials. Maintains boater files and computer files. Process customer work orders and transmits same to Maintenance Staff. Assists Office Administrator as directed. Helps customers at front desk with boating information and slips. Process sales on Marina POS. Answer phones and emails and radios. May need to help at other Port Authority locations. Helps with daily close out of marina office and other Port Authority locations Other duties as assigned by Port Authority Management Responsibilities: The Clerk/Bookkeeper is a full-time position performing the day to day Port Authority office operations as directed by the Finance Director. These include process account receivables and payables, printing and distributing payments, serving customers on the telephone, at the counter or marine radio, equipment, filing, mail and mailings, rate schedules and other literature and boat information. It may include payroll and scheduling of office staff in the absence of the Office Administrator. The clerk/bookkeeper also assists the Finance Director as directed in a wide variety of administrative tasks. Hiring will be done in accordance with Hammond City Ordinance #8620 as it pertains to the residency requirement.Position will be posted internally from March 21, 2022 thru March 25, 2022. If the position is not filled internally it will be held open for external applications an additional ten (10) days. The position will remain posted until filled or no more than 10 days.
