Press release from Concord Community Music School: March 28, 2022 The 2021-22 Bach's Lunch series at Concord Community Music School continues in April with a focus on Latino American folkloric music. This month's free Bach's Lunch programs will be held in person at the Music school and will be recorded for later viewing via our YouTube channel. Attendees must register in advance, and face masks are recommended when inside the Music School; please register online at ccmusicschool.org/calendar or call 603-228-1196 to reserve a seat. Bach's Lunch Lecture: "How to Approach Latino American Folkloric Music" Thursday, April 7, 12:10-12:50 p.m. Maurizio Fiore Salas (Venezuelan Cuatro and guitar) will discuss and demonstrate the common musical elements that connect different styles of Latin American folkloric music. Through the use of the rhythmic cell, "tresillo," we can find these elements in different styles and learn how to listen to them, and why they work in the way they do. This will open the audience's ear in approaching these styles which are usually hard to access or understand. Bach's Lunch Concert: "Folkloric Music from Venezuela and Argentina" Thursday, April 14, 12:10-12:50 p.m. The members of the trio (Sofia Chiarandini, violin – Maurizio Fiore Salas, Venezuelan Cuatro and guitar – Noah Harrington, upright bass) first started working together as bandmates in the contemporary string band NYMAN (Noah y Maurizio's Acoustic Nomads). After realizing the chemistry that they had when playing with each other, a new trio project was born out of their desire to explore a smaller format that allowed for a more organic approach to arranging and performing different styles of music. Given the quality of the instrumentation, every musician has the opportunity to expand their role in the ensemble and achieve a wide variety of sonic colors, bridging the gap between folkloric and modern musical elements. Bach's Lunch programs are free and open to the public, and take place from 12:10pm to 12:50pm on the first and second Thursdays of each month, November through June, in the Music School's Recital Hall, 23 Wall Street, downtown Concord, NH. The Bach's Lunch Series is sponsored by The Timothy and Abigail B. Walker Lecture Fund. For more information, please call 603-228-1196 or visit www.ccmusicschool.org.
