CONCORD, NH — Concord police and fire and rescue teams were kept busy in the capital city this weekend, responding to a number of calls. Police and firefighters were sent to the area of 125 Loudon Road for a report of a two-vehicle crash on Saturday around 2 p.m. Later, it was determined to be a single-vehicle crash, a pickup truck, into a utility pole. Police and EMTs noted the driver was having a medical issue before the crash. The pole seemed to have limited damage but Unitil was called anyway to check it. The driver refused transport and said he would get to the emergency room on his own, according to scanner chatter. The truck was towed from the area later. At just before 8 p.m., an officer, driving on Broadway encountered a vehicle in the middle of the street and stopped to investigate. The officer later reported there was a crash between an Audi sedan and a Volvo SUV. Other officers arrived and closed the street off between Pillsbury and Carter. Police reported no injuries. The vehicles were removed around 8:30 p.m. At around 10:15 p.m. on Saturday, police requested firefighters and EMTs stage for them after an assault at the Concord Homeless Resource Center on North Main Street. Police dispatch said a man assaulted another man and then, fled the scene, according to scanner chatter. Officers scoured the area looking for the suspect and caught up with a man near the Speedway gas station matching the description of the suspect. EMTs treated the victim, who had a minor injury, and later, told police he did not want to press charges. Another officer, who was also searching for the suspect, was near the Concord Center and found another man on the ground, intoxicated. The man was taken into protective custody. On Sunday, at just before 3:45 p.m., Concord EMTs and firefighters were sent to the Best Western on Hall Street for a report of an unconscious person. CPR was being performed on the man, in his early 40s, who was in a room on the first floor, dispatch said. A few minutes later, the first arriving firefighters reported the person had died and requested police. NEWS 603 posted a video of the Broadway crash on Facebook. Got a news tip?
