March 28, 2022
Gardening and food bring people together. They foster a sense of enjoyment, peace, security, health and well-being. More individuals and families are reaching out and interested in learning how to start a garden while others are interesting in learning how to compost. And, for those who are already gardening, perhaps we can help you "up" your gardening game.
Whatever your interests, and whether you are a beginner or have some experience, we are here to help! We'll be offering our second, annual Garden Learning Series for this new year 2022. The series features a number of workshops to help and educate on a variety of topics. The first program will cover seed starting for your garden and of course, we will offer a program dedicated to compost and composting! Workshops will be held the second Wednesday of the month from 6:00-7:30 pm. A list of upcoming topics and workshops can be found on the flyer. It's a great time to being your gardening adventures.
This program series is offered in collaboration with University of Illinois Extension and Master Gardeners via a two year grant that SWALCO received from USDA. The grant focuses on efforts to promote composting and food waste diversion, and also hopes to increase the generation and use of compost in commercial, residential, agriculture, and community gardens sectors in Lake County, Illinois. Registration is free for all, thanks to the grant and work being done. We hope you will join us.
