Press release from the City of St. Peters:
March 25, 2022
The City of St. Peters' annual Clean Streams Day is a great way to get involved in improving our community's environment and quality of life. St. Peters' 2022 Clean Streams Day takes place Saturday, April 9. Registration is open until April 1.
This community event is ideal for individuals, families, and local organizations that want to make a difference in just one day by cleaning trash from Spencer Creek and tributaries to Dardenne Creek. Volunteers will meet at 370 Lakeside Park's Corporate Pavilion before heading out to clean streams.
"The City of St. Peters has been hosting Clean Streams Day since 2000, and the volunteers who participate in cleaning our streams year after year provide a very valuable community service," St. Peters Mayor Len Pagano said. "The cleanliness and overall quality of our waterways are an important part of our quality of life."
Volunteers are able to choose from more than 20 different creek segments to clean, which are listed online with maps and levels of difficulty. The "kid-friendly" stream segments with the easiest access are limited and fill up quickly, so it's recommended to sign up for those sooner rather than later.
Clean Streams Day volunteers will be treated to donuts, juice, and water during the check-in process beginning at 8 a.m. at the Corporate Pavilion. After receiving safety instructions and some supplies, volunteers will be responsible for their own transportation to their creek sites. Volunteers will return to 370 Lakeside Park after 11 a.m. for a free hot dog lunch. All volunteers will also receive a free Missouri Stream Team T-shirt provided by the Missouri Department of Conservation.
