On March 25, 2022, at approximately 10:34 p.m., a fatal traffic collision occurred at the 13800 block of Midland Road in the city of Poway. A sedan heading northbound on Midland Road rear-ended a motorcyclist that was parked along the right side of the roadway, just north of the intersection with Somerset Road. Despite on-scene lifesaving efforts by bystanders, law enforcement, and fire personnel, the 59-year-old male motorcyclist died at the scene.
The sedan driver, 22-year-old Astha Rajyaguru, was evaluated by fire/medical personnel at the scene and arrested for driving under the influence and vehicular manslaughter. Rajyaguru will be booked into the Las Colinas Detention Facility.
