SAUK VILLAGE, IL — A Sauk Village police officer shot and wounded a boy Friday morning, according to Illinois State Police. State officials said the shooting occurred in the 22000 block of Torrence Avenue Friday at around 8:50 a.m. Officers were called to a home in the area but did not say what the call was about. "Sauk Village police officers stopped the alleged suspect and attempted to arrest him, but the individual resisted, police said. The juvenile then fled the scene with a handcuff on one of his wrists, authorities said," a statement from ISP read. According to officials, officers chased after the boy. One of the officers shot at the child, hitting him. At that point, officers took the boy to a local hospital, where he was treated and released Saturday afternoon. Police would not respond to questions regarding where the boy was shot or if the boy was holding a weapon when he was shot.
