DOUGLASVILLE, GA — Bobby Tillman was murdered just over 11 years ago, but his memory and legacy live on, thanks to his mother. Tillman attended a Douglasville house party on Nov. 7, 2010 and was randomly attacked by four boys, who were all found guilty of his murder for kicking, punching and stomping the 18-year-old boy to death. After his death, Tillman's mom, Monique Rivarde, launched a nonprofit in her son's honor: the Bobby Tillman Foundation, or BFAM, Inc. The foundation offers scholarships, mentorships and an annual 5K Walk/Run of Love, which takes place this year on April 30. Patch is highlighting local businesses in Douglasville and Douglas County, from restaurants to shops and more. If you want your business to be featured, fill out our form here. If you didn't start it, what made you get involved? My son, Bobby Tillman, was murdered at the age of eighteen. He was randomly chosen and beaten to death. I started BFAM, Inc. to instill in our youth self-love to make better decisions for their lives because the four teenagers that murdered Bobby did not love themselves. The four boys that murdered Bobby were all sentenced to life without parole, so we lost four lives that night, but the four boys had a choice. We want the youth to know that the sky is not even the limit, if they focus on their futures and striving to become the best person that they can be.
