LAKEWOOD, NJ — A report of someone brandishing a handgun from a vehicle — which turned out to be a lie — led to multiple officers responding to stop a vehicle on Cedar Bridge Avenue, Lakewood police said Friday. Lakewood Lt. LeRoy Marshall said police received a report Friday morning that claimed someone was in a vehicle had pointed a handgun at someone. The vehicle, which Marshall did not describe, was pulled over on Cedar Bridge Avenue near Ashley Avenue, he said, with multiple officers responding. Video published by the Lakewood Scoop and the Lakewood News Network showed at least six police vehicles and multiple officers with their guns drawn. The Lakewood News Network showed the driver getting out of the vehicle with hands in the air. Marshall said the driver consented to a search of the vehicle, which turned up no evidence of a firearm.
