POSITION:  Heating Plant Operator LOCATION: NDSCS Campus – Wahpeton ND WHO MAY BE CONSIDERED:  Anyone eligible to work in the USA TYPE OF APPOINTMENT: Full-time, 12 month, benefited position. JOB SUMMARY:  Under the general supervision of the Heating Plant Operator Lead, performs journey level duties within the heating plant and other related duties as assigned. The position may perform other duties that are considered necessary for the operation of the heating plant and campus heating distribution system.  Will be rotating shifts during heating season. Will perform duties in the general operation and maintenance of boilers and associated equipment. REQUIRED COMPETENCIES Must support the mission, vision and values of NDSCS High school diploma or equivalent One year exp. with high pressure boiler operations / related equipment and/or mechanical exp. Ability to work with high pressures/ temperatures, hazardous chemicals, heights, and confined spaces Basic mechanical skills Ability to operate basic hand tools, power tools, computerized work stations, water analysis lab equip., diagnostic equip, payloaders Ability to lift a max of 50-75 lbs. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Boiler operator license comparable to Minnesota 1st Class, Grade B or higher Multi-fuel type boiler operation experience Valid Driver's License HOW TO APPLY BACKGROUND CHECK:  NDSCS requires a successful background check for the selected candidate prior to official offer of the position.
