Coronavirus: North Kingstown Extends Emergency Restrictions

NORTH KINGSTOWN, RI — North Kingstown Town Manager Ralph Mollis has signed an administrative order extending all of the town's health emergency restrictions set to expire on April 30 to May 8. In conjunction with the new coronavirus health crisis, and restrictions, the town has also authorized an extension of payment due dates for property taxes and water bills. All bills due on April 30 will now be due on May 31 without penalty. There were 88 confirmed cases of coronavirus in North Kingstown, as of Wednesday, according to the Rhode Island Department of Health. The number of coronavirus cases in Rhode Island spiked by more than 300 for a second day in a row. The Rhode Island Department of Health reported 365 new cases Thursday and 10 additional deaths. This new data brings that total number of cases in the state to 5,841 and 181 fatalities. At this time, 270 people are in the hospital. Of these, 71 are in intensive care units and 44 are on ventilators. To date, 315 people have been discharged from the hospital.
