NORTH KINGSTOWN, RI — North Kingstown has expanded the hours it is allowing public access at its municipal offices as the town continues to open up from coronavirus health restrictions. "We continue to do all we can in North Kingstown to move forward in reopening and provide the valuable services our residents have come to expect," North Kingstown Town Manager Ralph Mollis. "This could not take place without the hard work, dedication, vision and contributions from the employees of North Kingstown." Offices will now be open between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Tuesday through Friday. Mondays will continue to be by appointment only. Residents are still encouraged to utilize virtual and online services whenever possible. Anyone who is not feeling well is also asked not to come to the offices. A greeter will be stationed at the entrance of the office building and every visitor is asked to sign-in and provide contact information. Visitors will then be given badges and directions to the office needed. Employees will also be wearing identification badges. Visitors will be required to wear masks at all times. If visitors are unable to wear a mask for a medical reason, special arrangements will be made. Everyone will be encouraged to maintain a safe distance of 6 feet or more from others. Mollis said there are weekly discussions between the North Kingstown Senior Center and the R.I. Department of Elderly Affairs about a possible phased-in reopening. The Senior Center now functions as the town's food distribution center. "North Kingstown continues to be at the forefront of pivoting from the closure required by the state due to COVID-19 to the reopening necessary for the economic survival of our business owners and the social and mental health benefits that all residents are deserving of with a reopening," Mollis said. "We can also be proud that it appears Rhode Island is on the forefront in addressing the challenges of the COVID pandemic. I hope these positive steps along with this information is helpful as we look forward to assisting you in any way possible during these challenging times."
