San Mateo County Suspends Jury Trials Amid Coronavirus Surge

REDWOOD CITY, CA – The San Mateo County Superior on Thursday issued a 30-day suspension of all jury trials. Presiding Judge Jonathan Karesh cited the surge of COVID-19 cases for his decision to issue the suspension. The suspension of all criminal and civil jury trials runs through Jan. 8. All civil court trials aside for unlawful detainer court trials are suspended through Dec. 31. The order does not apply to trials that are currently in session or to family law or juvenile cases.
