Coronavirus: North Kingstown Establishes Volunteer Hot Line

NORTH KINGSTOWN, RI — The North Kingstown School Department is offering a free breakfast and lunch program for students who are not in school due to the coronavirus pandemic. With schools canceled for at least this week, the lunches will be available on a pick-up-and-go basis for anyone between 1 and 18 years old. A hot line has already been established in town for those who are looking to help senior citizens obtain food and medication during this time. The lunches will be available through at least Friday daily from 11 a.m. to noon at Wilson Park, and 12:15 p.m. to 1:15 p.m. at McGinn Park. One breakfast and lunch will be available per child, per day. Children must be present in the vehicle to receive a meal. Meals will be provided as a walk-up delivery to vehicles so drivers and children do not have to get out of the car. Anyone with food allergies or sensitivities is asked to contact [email protected] or by calling 401-268-6514. The hot line is for both volunteers who are looking to help seniors, or seniors who are not advised to go out in public due to the virus and need help getting food, medications or other necessary supplies.
