Temporary Facilities Maintenance Worker The seasonal facilities maintenance worker is responsible for facility landscaping and grounds maintenance, and will also assist with preventative maintenance, construction and remodeling projects. This is a seasonal, time-limited position at the discretion of management. We are seeking 2 individuals for this temporary position at our Fort Collins location for 6 months (Monday – Thursday 10-hour shifts) with an approximate start date in May. Essential duties and responsibilities Must possess required knowledge, skills, abilities and experience and be able to perform, with or without reasonable accommodations, the essential functions of the job. - Provides landscaping to property grounds, edges and trims around walkways, weeding, trimming, pruning trees and shrubs, and spraying weeds. - Operates vehicles or powered equipment, such as mower, skid steer, fork lift, chainsaw, electric clipper, sod cutter, or pruning saw. - Maintains and repairs irrigation/sprinkler system and uses methods to adjust the amount of water consumption to prevent waste. - Performs repairs to building signs and fences. - Performs general cleaning and building maintenance and assist with other preventative maintenance and building projects. - Gathers and empties trash and recycle bins. - Maintains a clean and safe work environment following all safety policies and procedures. - Performs other duties as assigned This position has no supervisory or lead role responsibilities. Knowledge, skills, and abilities - Ability to work safely and demonstrate safe work practices. - Ability to safely operate lawn and power equipment. - Ability to communicate tactfully and effectively (written and verbal) with staff and contract personnel. - Ability to read instructions and labels and comprehend chemical interactions, danger signs, production techniques, and disposal methods. - Basic computer skills (e-mail, time entry, work order system). - Ability to concurrently work on multiple projects. - Willingness and ability to respond to emergency callouts if needed. Qualifications Education - High school diploma or its equivalent resulting in demonstrated ability to perform duties. Work experience - Required: Experience in three (3) or more of the following trade areas: - Landscape - Plumbing - Sprinkler repair - Power equipment operation - Minor equipment maintenance and repair - Required: Experience in the operation of lawn equipment, skid steer, forklift, or similar equipment. - Preferred: Previous experience at Platte River Power Authority as a Seasonal Facilities Maintenance Worker - Ability to work Monday through Thursday, 6:30 AM – 5:00 PM Licenses/certifications - Required: Current valid driver’s license and ability to remain insurable under Platte River’s vehicle liability policy Hourly pay for this position: $22.51 For more information or to apply, visit prpa.org/careers
