Printer Hookup Problem

Hello. I have a Canon Pixma TS6420 wireless printer. I had my (old, on its last legs) Dell computer fixed recently and now I can't hook up the printer again. I keep getting error messages. Can I just buy a cable?; I don't need wireless. If I use a cable, will I still have this hookup problem? Any advice appreciated.
