Gov. Gina Raimondo asked Rhode Islanders to keep their Thanksgiving celebrations as small as possible this year, only with members of the immediate household. That doesn't mean there will be a shortage of turkey and stuffing, however, and that one important thing you forgot to buy in advance. Most grocery stores in the state will be closed this holiday, so plan ahead as much as possible.
It's a terrible feeling — but, luckily, there's a list of grocery stores that will be open in Rhode Island for those emergency and last-minute shopping trips.
In contrast to previous years, retail giants Target and Walmart will not be open on Thanksgiving.
Both chains made the decision in response to the coronavirus pandemic. In a statement released on its website, Target said the company's goal is to "make the holiday shopping experience simple, safe, and stress-free."
Stop & Shop, a major grocery player in Rhode Island, will also close its doors for the holiday, as well as Dave's Fresh Marketplace.
Here are the hours for grocery stores that will be open on Thanksgiving Day, along with a list of those that won't:
