Professor Diann Rust-Tierney will deliver a lecture on "Race, the Death Penalty, and the Foundations of American Democracy."
Professor Rust-Tierney is a recognized and respected leader with decades of experience advocating for civil rights and human rights. She has more than 30 years of experience in federal legislative and executive branch advocacy on civil and human rights and spent the last 16 years as executive director of the National Coalition to Abolish the Death Penalty. As Drinan Chair, she participates in Human Rights Institute programming, serve as a resource for students and faculty, and teaches “Human Rights Advocacy: Lessons from the Campaign to End the Death Penalty and Other Human Rights Campaigns.”
COVID Protocol for non-Georgetown guests:
HRI welcomes outside guests, however, all attendees for this event must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 and received a COVID-19 vaccine booster shot, or attest to having a religious or medical exemption. Attendees who attest to having an exemption or who are under the age of 12 will need to take a COVID-19 PCR test within 72 hours prior to the event and provide their negative test results.
If you are not a student, staff, or faculty member, you must submit your vaccine information to the university's portal to ensure you are approved to be on campus to attend the event. Submit your information here.
After you have submitted your information in the portal, you will receive an additional email the day of the event with a questionnaire. To be admitted onto campus, you must have submitted your materials and completed the questionnaire.
