Come together with orthodox CRCs. We'll pray, mutually seek the Lord’s counsel and chart a path forward after Synod 2022. Synod 2022 is likely to be a watershed event, in our denomination with the Human Sexuality Report (HSR) as the primary barometer indicating the future of biblical fidelity, orthodoxy, and discipline for the CRCNA. This has been a confusing and frustrating season for many congregations. As we pray for the CRCNA to adopt the report we also pray for the unity of the church in grace and truth. While we do not yet know how God will move at Synod 2022, we trust that He will. To help congregations sort through whatever those results may be, the Abide Project is facilitating a Convention of Churches to provide a place for office-bearers to gather from across the denomination. If the HSR is fully adopted, how do we live into biblical and pastoral fidelity as congregations and more broadly as a denomination. If the HSR is not fully adopted, can we still pursue biblical and pastoral fidelity within the CRCNA? This convention will be a place where we can come together for encouragement and mutually seek the Lord’s counsel through speakers, breakout sessions, and open discussions focused on developing concrete actions we can take to revive, strengthen, and reform our churches, classes and denomination. Please set aside August 2-3, 2022, for this Convention and prayerful discern sending your pastor and two additional office-bearers (or three office-bearers should a church not currently have a pastor). We will be gathering at Orland Park (IL) CRC just outside of Chicago for those two days, beginning Tuesday morning and wrapping up late Wednesday afternoon. We anticipate this to be the first of several meetings to see how we can move forward together for the glory of God and the edification of His people.
