Learn how to craft a clay "Pinch Pot" with the art of Handbuilding Pottery
Nest on the Main is excited to announce a new workshop with artist Raffaela Vergata of Sunken Orchard Ceramics. Join us May 14 as she teaches us the ceramic technique of Handbuilding a clay "pinch pot." This class is perfect for first-time potters who have no problem getting their hands dirty. You will learn the ancient technique of methodically pinching clay between the thumb and fingers while making a bowl or cup.
Step-by-step, Raffaela will show you how to shape a ball of clay, and she'll include inspirational tips on creating a one-of-a-kind ceramic creation. Following the demonstration, you'll have the opportunity to make two of your pieces to bring home.
Each attendee will receive a Nest store coupon exclusive to this event.
All materials will be provided and are washable, but students should wear clothes they don't mind getting dusty.
Kiln Firing Included! Raffaela will fire your pottery in her electric kiln, making it safe for food and dishwasher. Note - Firing can take up to four weeks.
Refund Policy: Seating for this class is limited and tickets are nonrefundable. If you purchase a ticket and cannot attend the class, you may find someone to fill your reservation. Please call ahead and let us know. If you have any questions, we're happy to help; store: 631-651-9173
