Homeless Dogs Moved From Oklahoma To Bay Area

EAST BAY — If you're hoping for a cute furry friend for the holidays, the East Bay SPCA has 20 new dogs available for adoption. The pups arrived last Thursday from the overcrowded Tulsa, Oklahoma Humane Society shelter. They are among 80 dogs sent to various Northern California shelters from Oklahoma. The Humane Society of Tulsa relieves overcrowding in the south by transporting animals from overcrowded municipal shelters around Tulsa to other locations in need of adoptable animals. "We remain committed to our unified mission of improving the welfare of dogs and cats. While our priorities remain with the animals in our local communities, we recognize that there are times when we can work together to make a difference for animals locally and beyond. This year alone, we have transported nearly 1,000 animals to our shelter that have been impacted by natural disasters and overcrowding," says Karalyn Aropen, East Bay SPCA Vice President of Operations. Adoptions are by appointment only. The East Bay SPCA has shelters in both Oakland and Dublin. Here is a look at all of the dogs and cats currently available for adoption. Some adoption fees have been waived.
