Press release from the City of Des Moines: November 19, 2020 DES MOINES, IOWA – November 19, 2020 –Every year, the City of Des Moines processes over 20,000 pet licenses - this year, however, will mark the first time residents will be able to register their pets online. The City Clerk's Office, in collaboration with the Information Technology Department, recently completed a new online portal for the residents of Des Moines to pay their pet licensing and dog park permits. "We are very excited for this option, when we closed in March for COVID it became very clear we needed an online option available," City Clerk Kay Cmelik said. "We believe this is something our pet owners deserved, and this will make the payment process much easier for them going forward." There are advantages of registering your pet. Pets registered through the city of Des Moines expedite the process of connecting lost animals with their owners. Registered pets also allow the city to better handle any disputes that may arise in the dog parks. The City Clerk's Office will begin processing registrations on November 30, 2020.
