Press release from the Davenport Community Schools: October 15, 2020 Davenport Families, In our ongoing effort to be transparent and proactive with our communication to families and the community, I wanted to provide you an update on the District's Chief Financial Officer (CFO). At the State Board of Education meeting on September 25, 2020, the State Board voted to implement an Interim CFO for the Davenport Community School District. In partnership with the Iowa Department of Education and the Mississippi Bend AEA, the District will move forward with the following structure for our finance department for a period of at least the next six months: Gary Sinclair will serve as our Chief Financial Advisor (CFA). Gary has been working with the District over the past several months, in conjunction with the finance department and the School Board of Directors, to appropriately budget and review District finances. Gary played a key role in helping the District stabilize our budget through our meetings with the SBRC, as well as present accurate financial pictures and forecasts for appropriate planning and budgeting. Gary's role will be elevated from contracted consultant to CFA, and his contract will now be managed through the Mississippi Bend AEA. Lisa Crews will continue in her role as interim Chief Financial Officer (CFO) while the district continues to search for a permanent CFO. Lisa will work directly with Gary Sinclair and be provided oversight for all District finances by the Iowa Department of Education and the State Board. I will be communicating with families and our community as the Davenport Community School District continues to make progress on our Corrective Action Plan from the State Board.
