Description

GREENWICH, CT — On April 6, the Greenwich community will come together at the Boys & Girls Club of Greenwich for the annual Youth of the Year event. The Youth of the Year program was established in 1969 to recognize club members who give back to their club and community. Recipients of the honor have demonstrated service to club, community and family, academic success, strong moral character, life goals and poise and public speaking ability. Damarys Aceituno, a junior at Greenwich High School, was named as the 53rd recipient of the award last year. The Youth of the Year will then move on to be considered as the State Youth of the Year, followed by regional and national competitions. Additionally, Don Palmer will be the Champion of Youth honoree. Palmer is the club's vice president of programs & youth development, and has served for 30 years, helping thousands of children grow and reach their full potential through honesty, hard work and sportsmanship. Tickets for the event are available at the BGCG website, and special alumni priced tickets are available by emailing Michele Smith at [email protected].
