2 K-9 Officers Join Harford County Sheriff's Office

HARFORD COUNTY, MD — Two K-9s recently graduated from explosives and firearms detection school, according to the Harford County Sheriff's Office. Karma and Jethro are "already working and loving their new jobs!" the sheriff's office reported. Karma is assigned to Corporal Marty Hoppa, the K-9 unit supervisor, according to the Harford County Sheriff's Office. The dog is a 17-month-old yellow lab. Jethro — a black lab — is assigned to Senior Deputy Danny Vazquez, officials said. The dog is 14 months old. Both dogs graduated from a two-month-long explosives school and will be trained later this year to assist in human tracking, officials said Friday. The Baltimore Region Federal Protective Services Police K9 and Baltimore County Police K9 Unit helped the dogs in their education, and the Harford County Sheriff's Office thanked them for the assistance.
