SAN LEANDRO, CA — All lanes on Interstate 880 have reopened in both directions Sunday afternoon following a crash involving downed power lines in San Leandro, according to the California Highway Patrol. Lanes had reopened as of 1:21 p.m., after the accident closed traffic in both directions for about two hours. Residual delays were still reported. The accident was reported at 11:13 a.m. on I-880 north of I-238, when a power pole fell onto a Red Toyota Prius, according to preliminary CHP logs. None of the vehicle's three occupants suffered any major injuries. A severe traffic alert was issued at 11:53 a.m., reporting that I-880 was closed north of I-238. Drivers were advised to expect delays and use alternate routes. Sunday's high winds have brought down power lines and caused widespread outages across the Bay Area, with tens of thousands of people reportedly losing power.
