Snowy- 9 year old Border Collie Mix

We have a 9 year old border collie that unfortunately needs a new home. We have had Snowy since she was about 6 months old, and she has been a great pet. Over the last year she has become less interested in being around our other dogs, and over the last 6 months it has led to some aggression. We have been working with the UC Davis behavioral team, and determined that Snowy has developed severe anxiety around other dogs. At this point she is our “upstairs dog” and the other dogs our “downstairs dogs”. We have also medicated Snowy with Prozac, but it has not made a substantial difference. Through our work we have come to realize that reintegration is not going to be possible. Snowy is just at a point in her life that she needs to be an only dog. She still gets along great with people and kids, but not other dogs. We are wanting to find a great home that will work for her and not just any home. We are picky about who gets our sweet girl. And by sweet I really mean it. She is so loving and just wants to be part of your life. By separating her from the others it has helped with the fighting, but we are seeing her grow depressed because it has limited her human interactions. Snowy is up to date on her shots and would do best with no other pets and a large fenced yard or farm type situation. We will need references and will only let her go to the right home.
