Beloved Singer/Songwriter RJ Cowdery in Concert

Events

Oakland Park avenue near Broadway Place, Columbus OH

30 April, 2022

Description

She’s a Southern Ohio girl, she’s a brilliant singer-songwriter, she’s won numerous national musical awards, and she’s the featured act at the next monthly concert sponsored by the Columbus Folk Music Society. Saturday April 30, RJ Cowdery will take the stage at the Columbus Mennonite Church, 35 Oakland Park Avenue. Suggested donations at the door are $15, $10 for members of CFMS. RJ’s original songs are compelling, emotional, inspiring, and introspective. While they have a personal feel, they also have a universal appeal because they focus on themes like taking chances, belonging, creativity, and being our true selves. That’s why RJ has been honored by the Kerrville Folk Festival, Sisters Folk Festival, Rocky Mountain Folk Festival, Mountain Stage, and many other musical venues. Accompanying RJ on guitar will be veteran Columbus musician, Brian Szuch. RJ will take the stage at 8 pm, but for an extra treat, come to the show early for other highlights. At 6 pm, we’ll resume our jamming where people can play along, sing along, or just listen along. At 7 pm, 3 open mic acts will take the stage. And at 7:45 pm, there will be a community sing of classic folk songs. With Covid fading, face masks will now be optional, and pre-registration and proof of vaccination will no longer be required.
