Press release from the Capistrano Unified School District: November 20, 2020 Dear CUSD Students, Families, Teachers, Administrators, and Staff, As we prepare for Thanksgiving break, I want to share my gratitude for our students, families, and especially our teachers, administrators, and staff who make teaching and learning possible each and every day. CUSD teachers, staff, and administrators have worked year after year to make us the highest performing large school district in the state of California. This year has been no different as they moved their craft outside the walls of their classrooms and campuses and into the homes of our 47,000 students. At the same time, many have worked to create hybrid options, new curriculum, new school schedules, cleaning protocols, bus routes, food and nutrition options, and connectivity to virtual classrooms. The resilience and vision of our CUSD team is extraordinary and always focused on our students. I am thankful for each and every one of our 4,500 employees! I'm also thankful for our students and families. We exist as an organization to engage students in meaningful, challenging, and innovative educational experiences to increase post-secondary options for all students. Our students and our families have endured so much change this year and still, each day, our young people show up motivated and ready to learn. Our families do so much to support this work and I am so grateful for your grace, patience, and willingness to provide feedback and challenge us to improve each and every day. I am thankful for all of you. This is a much deserved Thanksgiving break. Please keep your family safe and take care of yourself. Happy Thanksgiving! Sincerely, Kirsten Vital Superintendent This press release was produced by the Capistrano Unified School District. The views expressed here are the author's own.
