SAN CLEMENTE, CA — On Thursday, south Orange County city of San Clemente lowered their flags half-mast. There, they will remain until those who were lost at sea are recovered, according to Samantha Wylie, Recreation Manager for the city of San Clemente. City flags were lowered to half-mast at all City facilities to honor the lives of the U.S. Marines and Navy Sailor lost tragically following a training accident near San Clemente Island last week. The City of San Clemente stands with our military and service members with great respect and sadness for the loss of Pfc. Bryan J. Baltierra, 19, of Corona; Lance Cpl. Marco A. Barranco, 21, of Montebello; Pfc. Evan A. Bath, 19, of Oak Creek, Wis.; U.S. Navy Hospitalman Christopher Gnem, 22, of Stockton; Pfc. Jack Ryan Ostrovsky, 21, of Bend, Ore.; Lance Cpl. Guillermo Perez, 20, of New Braunfels, Tex.; Cpl. Wesley A. Rodd, 23, of Harris, Texas; Lance Cpl. Chase D. Sweetwood, 19, of Portland, Ore. and Cpl. Cesar A. Villanueva, 21, of Riverside. Flags will be flown at half-mast from August 6 and remain lowered until all service members have been recovered.
