All local dispatchers welcome! Join us for training on implicit bias, community policing, conflict management, and communications. Daily Schedule0800-1200 Implicit Bias & Community PolicingThis course is designed to teach students the differences between racism, racial profiling, & criminal profiling; how racial & identity profiling affects trust and police legitimacy; understanding diverse communities; and the foundations of community policing. Coffee/pastries provided.Lunch provided, please indicate that you will stay for lunch during checkout to ensure an accurate amount is available. 1300-1700 Dispatch Conflict Management & CommunicationsThis 4-hour course is designed to hone conflict management strategies in the workplace and over the phone, using effective communication when working with diverse communities, managing job stress and trauma, and effectively handling difficult calls. Snacks provided.Through group learning activities, participants will practice effective communication techniques to increase voluntary compliance and defuse tense situations. Students will participate in role plays, demonstrations, video discussions, and conversation on key issues to reinforce learned concepts.
