When I listen to these artists, it makes me want to pack a picnic and take my girlfriend on a long, romantic hike in the foothills. The duo is known for their songwriting, uplifting music and entertaining shows. Their sound is often compared to Of Monsters and Men, Benjamin Gibbard and Mac Demarco. ABOUT STRUTZ The acoustic quartet – Andrew Sturtz [vocals, guitar], Jim Herlihy [banjo], Courtlyn Carpenter [cello], and Will Kuepper [bass] – falls somewhere at the intersection of folk and soul, with lead singer Andrew Sturtz’s melodic vocals soaring over the lower string instrumentals. Sturtz is based in Boulder, CO, making appearances at venues like eTown in Boulder, CO, the Belly Up in Aspen, CO, and the Mishawaka Amphitheater in Bellvue, CO. The band was featured on NPR’s All Songs Considered in 2020 and released their first full-length album in August 2021. ABOUT SAM RAE Blending classical roots with an improvisational past Sam Rae brings a sense of wonder to her now alternative folk music. While practicing concertos and technical exercises she was simultaneously composing her own music and exploring the possibilities of cello and a loop pedal.
