Ruth Van Alstine, President of North Florida Poetry Hub, had this to say about the program, “This event is going to be amazing! It will be a great opportunity to meet incredible poets like Shutta Crum, Sally Constain, and our local entertainer poet, musician, and storyteller Chris Kastle. Women Writing For (a) Change will be there with Jennifer Wolfe, Executive Director, presenting their high school interns Su Ertekin-Taner, Kaysyn Jones, Aditi Ranjan, and Lawson Lewis, along with teacher, internship coordinator, and Board Member Anna Jacobson, reading works from the latest volume of the annual anthology, (a) river rising: Anthology of Women’s Voices, Vol. III (Roots and Branches edition). Well-known children’s book author, poet and event participant, Shutta Crum, comments, "When I moved to Northeast Florida I was in search of fellow poets. And, wow, did I find them! Poetry in the Jacksonville and Ponte Vedra area is alive and thriving. I'm looking forward to the showcase to hear some great poetry from "old hands" and from the young and upcoming poets of our "Young Voices Poets Contest." Promising to be a unique and pleasant way to pass a Sunday afternoon, the event is scheduled from 2 to 4 p.m., with The Poet’s Pen Book Showcase author book signings, opportunity to purchase your own unique, limited-edition poetry book, zine or author’s books, music CD’s and more. Women Writing For (a) Change will have their beautiful full-color Anthologies and writing journals available for sale. Refreshments will be served. Come Join Us!
